What is FTA?

FTA is a patented preservative process developed by Leigh Burgoyne at Flinders University in 1988. The formula protects the DNA from hazards such as enzymatic degradation, free radicals, UV damage and microbial attack. It has a widespread use for forensics data base (for example, the National DNA Data Bank of Canada) and medical and scientific laboratories. The Always Mine™ DNA ID Kit is a in-home ID Kit done by the parent and stored in your filing cabinet or dresser drawer for 19 yrs or longer. DNA is still being extracted successfully from FTA Micro Cards stored back in 1988, and it is expected that if the DNA survives that long, it will survive indefinitely.
